From June 1 to June 30, the Learning Planet Institute<\/a><\/strong> is transformed into a temporary exhibition to host the BiodiverCit\u00e9<\/strong>. This exhibition lets us see and hear the diversity of living things through images and recorded sounds (bird songs and insect chirps).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are part of a large family whose history spans billions of years. To breathe, to eat, to be healthy, to survive and prosper, we depend on this biodiversity.<\/span><\/p>\n

But humans are also a social species, living in groups and creating cities. This highly artificial environment is the antithesis of our vision of nature, and is causing the decline of many species.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet our cities are not devoid of life. Some species have managed to adapt to this environment, a process known as synanthropy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hidden between two cobblestones, invading the streets and visible in parks and gardens, urban biodiversity can be apprehended and identified using smartphone applications such as <\/span>iNaturalist<\/span><\/i><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By contributing to participatory science projects, city dwellers can discover the wealth of flora and fauna adapted to the city and marvel at the urban jungle.<\/span><\/p>\n

This exhibition, combining photographs and sound recordings, was initiated by Christine Rampon, Adrien Perrard and Pierre Kerner, teacher-researchers in the Life Sciences Department of the Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9 Faculty of Science. It brings together visual and sound works produced as part of the participatory science program iNaturalist<\/a>. As such, the artists in this exhibition are scientists, whether professional, amateur or student.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition is open to all during Learning Planet Institute opening hours from June 1 to 30, 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
