M. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/biographie-francois-taddei\/\">Fran\u00e7ois TADDEI<\/a>, founder and president of the Learning Planet Institute, holds this international teaching and research chair, which combines research, pedagogy and technology to promote a learning society for a sustainable world. To mark this renewal, the Learning Planet Institute is launching a cycle of four conferences on four distinct themes.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Zoom in on this Chair and the inaugural conference held on October 19, 2023.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>The UNESCO Chair in Learning Sciences: an initiative to build a learning society&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/le-reses.org\/cne\/\">recent report by Reses<\/a>, 69 % of students would like their studies to provide better training in transition issues. At a time when crises and changes are accelerating, it is urgent to reflect on and adapt to the new skills and knowledge needed for transitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Against this backdrop, the \u201cSciences of Learning\u201d Chair was launched in 2014 with the aim of combining research, pedagogy and technology to support teachers, researchers, teams and stakeholder collectives in building a learning society for a more sustainable world.  It is based on the conviction that youth, learning at all ages of life and collective intelligence are the levers for the necessary transformation of our societies. The four-year \u201cSciences de l'apprendre\u201d program has been renewed for 2018 and 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>The \u201cSciences of Learning\u201d Chair supports <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/UNESCO-directives-et-procedures-Chaires-19.pdf\"><strong>UNESCO's four priority objectives<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cEnsuring equitable and inclusive quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all (...)\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cWork to build sustainable societies and protect the environment (...)\u201d.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cBuilding inclusive, just and peaceful societies by promoting freedom of expression, cultural diversity and global citizenship education (...)\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cPromote a technological environment that serves people through the development and dissemination of knowledge and skills (...)\u201d.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the period 2022-2026, the Chair has chosen to focus its work on the activities of the following clusters <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/ce-que-nous-faisons\/rd\/\">R&amp;D<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/education\/\">Education<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/alliance-internationale\/\">International Alliance<\/a> of the Learning Planet Institute.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>As part of the Chair, a series of conferences on the theme of transitions&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">How can we learn in an uncertain context, and how can learning ecosystems help us move from adversity to prosperity?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>This was the subject of the inaugural conference organized on October 19, 2023 at the Learning Planet Institute in support of UNESCO's first goal: \u201cEnsuring equitable and inclusive quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all, in order, inter alia, to reduce inequalities and promote learning and creative societies, especially in the digital age\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A number of personalities - including \u00c9douard Kaminski, President of Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9, Fran\u00e7ois Taddei, Founder-President of the Learning Planet Institute, and Julia Hermida, IBRO-IBE\/UNESCO Fellow for the sciences of learning in 2022 - discussed the following topics <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00a0The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/fr\">UNESCO<\/a> The \u201cSciences of Learning\u201d Chair: its priorities and context<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The role to be played by education systems, especially universities, and learning systems in an uncertain context<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Concepts and techniques for combating educational, health and social disparities&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A variety of opinions and information were thus shared, including the students' point of view on the issue, <em>via <\/em>the testimony of Laura Head from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/eurip-graduate-school-fr\/\">Master of AIRE<\/a> (Interdisciplinary Approaches to Research and Teaching) of Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9, housed at the Learning Planet Institute.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9 works with nine interdisciplinary institutes, including the Learning Planet Institute, to build bridges between research, learning and disciplines: <em>\u201cWe are first and foremost an experimental university. We can do things differently, without always following the rules.\u201d <\/em>says Kaminski.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.learning-planet.org\/circle\/learning-ecosystems\/\">Exploring Local Learning Ecosystems in the Global South: Pathways to thriving for every child<\/a>\u201dproduced by the Learning Planet Institute in collaboration with <em>Dream a Dream<\/em> and <em>The Global Education Leaders program<\/em> (GELP), its international partners, Fran\u00e7ois Taddei brought the debate to a close, stressing the importance of supporting the \u00abGELPs\".\u00ab <a href=\"http:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/publication\/the-entire-planetizen-learning-manifesto\/\">Learning Planetizens<\/a> \u00bbThe aim is to teach them to take care of themselves, others and the planet. \u201c<em>We must mobilize international cooperation, in the North and South<\/em>\u201dhe warns. \u201c<em>Learning Planetizens, whatever their age, must learn to work together to overcome individual, national and international challenges (including <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/fr\/goals\"><em>17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals<\/em><\/a><em>)<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default has-medium-font-size is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">We need to rethink the university on a global scale<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>A \u201cPlanetizen University\u201d would solve certain problems and \u201c.\u201c<em>is currently being prototyped at the Learning Planet Institute.<\/em>\u201dunderlines Mr. Taddei. <em>\u201cEducation must be part of the solution to the major challenges, emergencies and crises facing us (...)
