François Taddei, CRI President, and Gaëll Mainguy, CRI Director of Development and International Relations, have been appointed to IRD's Strategic Orientation Council and Scientific Council respectively.

In 2019, Research Institute pour le développement (IRD) and CRI have signed a partnership agreement to support joint innovative research initiatives, promote the exchange of expertise, and organize conferences and training courses on sustainable development objectives and scientific approaches to sustainability. This virtuous partnership was embodied in the 3rd edition of the SDO Summer School and the #LearningPlanet which took place from January 24 to 25.

CRI and IRD actions are more synergistic than ever, given the importance today of anchoring scientific research in sustainable development in a systemic, integrated and interdisciplinary way.

As a French public research organization and a key player on the international development agenda, the IRD works in partnership to find solutions to the environmental, economic, social and cultural challenges facing mankind and the planet. The Institute places great emphasis on cross-disciplinary approaches and the science of sustainability. This interdisciplinarity and willingness to co-construct scientific partnerships echoes the expertise of CRI, which fits perfectly into this field of action.

Drawing on its experience in the learning, life and digital sciences, and its ability to mobilize collective intelligence, CRI is committed to working alongside IRD to help meet global challenges.

“WE ARE ALL COUNTRIES ON THE PATH TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT”.”

The IRD brings together research laboratories that contribute to the development of developing countries, and whose research projects focus on sustainability issues. Gaëll Mainguy sums up the issue as follows: “We are all countries on the path to sustainable development. Developed countries must maintain their quality of service while reducing their footprint. Developing countries must increase the well-being of their populations while limiting their impact on resources and the environment.”. It's a question of meeting everyone's needs while preserving the planet's capacity to accommodate us.

The issue of economic growth in developing countries is of paramount importance, as the implementation of a specific development model will have a major impact on the sustainability of our planet. The IRD therefore plays a decisive role in the strategic scientific orientation and exploration of certain avenues for development that combine sustainability with economic and social prosperity. The importance of integrated, systemic and interdisciplinary support becomes clear. In this respect, CRI and IRD advocate and work towards the establishment of equitable scientific partnerships.

Gaëll Mainguy adds: “To solve the climate crisis, no one has all the turnkey solutions, and no one has a monopoly on good ideas and technologies..” Scientific cooperation between countries with different realities is therefore essential. How can we share what we know how to do, and explore together what we don't yet know how to do? Each of the players brings different ways of thinking and doing, which means we can work together to build solutions that benefit everyone.
CRI is proud to put its expertise in building interdisciplinary research projects at IRD's service.

“Science is a universal language that must serve the common good”.

To find out more ...

Hello World, IRD's new program dedicated to the science of sustainable solutions
What are the paths to a sustainable world?, online course, 4 videos, Gaëll Mainguy.

As committed partners in the pursuit of sustainable development goals, CRI and IRD are strengthening their strategic alliance.

[22

post-639","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-institutional
["GET
