We feel that our civilization is as fragile as life.<\/em>&#8221; Paul Valery<\/p>\n<p>I thought of this passage as I looked back on the year gone by, a year which has shaken all of us both emotionally and socially, on a personal level and as global citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The year 2020 will be remembered as a turning point. There is no going back. We\u2019ve now seen firsthand that the answers to yesterday\u2019s problems are not suited to the challenges of today and tomorrow. Together, we must create new solutions.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s now more important than ever to prepare the coming generation for the collective efforts needed in the world in order to bring about change. This is what we strive for at the CRI, thanks to the support of our partners and friends. Together, we are working towards a learning planet, as best exemplified in our recent founding of the Institut des d\u00e9fis(challenges research institute) within the University of Paris and our continued work surrounding the #LeaningPlanet initiative. To help shape the world we want for ourselves, our children, and our future, I invite you to join us on January 24th and 25th for our annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learning-planet.org\/fr\/festival\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><u>Learning Planet Festival<\/u><\/a>, where we will kick off a year that I hope will be full of reasons to celebrate. Let\u2019s celebrate learning and sharing, let\u2019s celebrate others and our common dreams&#8230; and let\u2019s simply celebrate life\u2019s fun and meaningful moments.<\/p>\n<p>I wish you\u2014us\u2014a very happy new year in 2021 and hope we can, in the legacy of Gandhi, be the change we wish to see in this world.<\/p>\n<p>Take excellent care of yourselves, others, and the planet.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNous autres, civilisations, nous savons maintenant que nous sommes mortelles. Nous sentons qu&#8217;une civilisation a la m\u00eame fragilit\u00e9 qu&#8217;une vie.\u201d Paul Valery<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cette phrase m\u2019est revenue en m\u00e9moire en repensant \u00e0 l\u2019ann\u00e9e qui vient de s\u2019\u00e9couler et qui nous aura tous bouscul\u00e9s \u00e9motionnellement, socialement, \u00e0 titre personnel ou en tant que citoyen de notre plan\u00e8te.<\/p>\n<p>2020 marquera une ann\u00e9e de rupture. Il n\u2019y aura pas de retour en arri\u00e8re. Nous avons pris conscience que les solutions aux probl\u00e8mes d\u2019hier ne sont pas adapt\u00e9es aux d\u00e9fis que nous devons et aurons \u00e0 affronter. Nous devons inventer, collectivement, de nouvelles r\u00e9ponses.<\/p>\n<p>Il est plus que jamais essentiel de former les jeunes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations \u00e0 la r\u00e9solution des d\u00e9fis de mani\u00e8re collective. C\u2019est ce \u00e0 quoi nous \u0153uvrons au sein du CRI gr\u00e2ce aux soutiens de nos partenaires et amis. Ensemble, nous appelons \u00e0 la constitution d\u2019une plan\u00e8te apprenante, notamment avec la cr\u00e9ation de l\u2019Institut des d\u00e9fis au sein de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Paris et l\u2019initiative #LeaningPlanet.
