{"id":8775,"date":"2026-03-25T11:40:05","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T10:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/?p=8775"},"modified":"2026-03-25T17:08:37","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T16:08:37","slug":"one-year-ago-the-unu-hub-future-of-learning-with-youth-fly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/fr\/news\/one-year-ago-the-unu-hub-future-of-learning-with-youth-fly\/","title":{"rendered":"One year ago: The UNU Hub &#8220;Future of Learning with Youth&#8221; (FLY)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>How the Learning Planet Institute and the <a href=\"https:\/\/unu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Nations University<\/a> are co-constructing the future of education, with and for youth.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>In March 2025, the Learning Planet Institute (LPI) and the United Nations University (UNU) launched the very first UNU Hub in France. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/hub-unu\/\">The UNU Hub FLY (Future of Learning with Youth)<\/a> was born from a shared conviction: young people must not simply be the beneficiaries of education, but also &#8211; and above all &#8211; its co-architects. One year later, this conviction has already translated into concrete action. <\/em><em>A look back at a year under the aegis of the UNU Hub FLY.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>A strengthened collaboration between LPI and UNU \/ UNU-FLORES.\u00a0<\/strong>At the heart of this UNU Hub FLY is a close partnership between LPI and the <a href=\"https:\/\/unu.edu\/flores\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNU Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES)<\/a>, which adds its expertise in the &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/unu.edu\/flores\/what-nexus-approach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Resource Nexus approach<\/a>&#8221; &#8211; an integrated framework for understanding the interconnections between natural resources and addressing sustainability challenges. Through its <a href=\"https:\/\/unu.edu\/flores\/project\/knowledge-academy-resource-nexus-kare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Knowledge Academy for the Resource Nexus (KARE)<\/a>, UNU-FLORES also engages young people across diverse learning formats, from online courses to postgraduate programmes and capacity-building workshops.<\/p>\n<p>Together with LPI and supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/unu.edu\/paris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UNU Paris Office<\/a>, the UNU Hub FLY embodies this collaboration through joint research, conferences, and educational initiatives like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/events\/re-act-2025-reimagining-education-in-the-age-of-crises-and-transitions-2\/\">RE-ACT podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, LPI and UNU-FLORES also submitted a joint funding proposal, opening prospects for future collaboration and shared research opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/unu-hub.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rethinking higher education for a planetary future.\u00a0<\/strong>The collaboration between LPI and UNU extends well beyond the borders of Paris and Europe: on 12 August 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/bio\/francois-taddei\/\">Fran\u00e7ois Taddei,<\/a> co-founder and president of the Learning Planet Institute, joined the UNU Rector, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sg\/en\/appointments\/unu\/tshilidzi-marwala\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tshilidzi Marwala<\/a>, and the UNU Japan Outreach Communications Assistant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/yukiko-takei\/?originalSubdomain=jp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yukiko Takei<\/a>, at UNU Tokyo headquarters for a <a href=\"https:\/\/unu.edu\/conversation-series\/stewards-tomorrow-rethinking-higher-education-planetary-future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dialogue<\/a> on the occasion of International Youth Day.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conversation explored how education can evolve to address <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/causes\/\">pressing global challenges<\/a> and invited participants to rethink traditional models of education. By fostering exchanges between institutions and young people, the dialogue underscored the importance of co-creating more inclusive, creative and future-oriented forms of learning, highlighting the growing collaboration between the Learning Planet Institute and the United Nations University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The encounter in Tokyo later expanded to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/youthaffairs\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United Nations Youth Office<\/a>, as Fran\u00e7ois Taddei held a bilateral meeting with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/youthaffairs\/en\/about\/ASGYouthAffairs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr Felipe Paullier<\/a>, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, who was also visiting the UNU at the time. This exchange offered an opportunity to deepen discussions on meaningful youth engagement and the role of education in addressing global challenges, while reinforcing synergies between the Learning Planet Institute and the wider United Nations system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1648\" src=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/meeting-with-rector-of-unu.jpg\" alt=\"Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge - Meeting with rector of UNU\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/meeting-with-rector-of-unu.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/meeting-with-rector-of-unu-480x360.jpg 480w, https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/meeting-with-rector-of-unu-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>A &#8220;Youth Design Challenge&#8221; more global than ever<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 2025-2026 edition of LPI&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/programs\/lp-ydc\/\">Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge<\/a>, certified by the UNU Hub FLY and with the participation of UNU-FLORES in the jury, proves that when doors are opened for young people to mobilise and tackle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/causes\/\">pressing global challenges<\/a> (Environment &amp; Climate, Flourishing \u2013 Well-Being &amp; Socio-Emotional Development, Mental Health &amp; Wellbeing), they step through them eagerly and in great numbers!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most recent 2024\/25 edition saw over 1,000 young people from 105 countries registered, 270 projects were submitted, and 12 exceptional finalists were selected by the international jury.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year\u2019s edition saw 3,200 registrations (a 220% increase); 702 projects submitted (+160%); and 60 finalists (+400%). These figures speak for themselves, representing concrete solutions to real problems developed by youth from 109 countries &#8211;\u00a0from Afghanistan and Bangladesh to Kenya, Nepal, and Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/programs\/learning-planet-youth-design-challenge\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find out more about the Learning Planet Youth Design Challenge<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Reimagining the UN from the inside<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/programs\/remodelun\/\">ReModelUN<\/a> is another project led by the LPI, aimed at demonstrating what youth can achieve when granted genuine institutional trust, even at the highest levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This bold and disruptive programme reimagines the format of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mun-france.fr\/en\/home-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Model United Nations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MUN) simulations no longer as a mere imitation of the current UN, but as a space to co-design the Organisation as it <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">could<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">should<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> be.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In April 2025, during a visit to the LPI by Dr <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Felipe Paullier<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the ReModelUN pilot programme was launched at the LPI campus. This provided an opportunity to directly connect a UN leader with our community of learners, both on-site in Paris and online worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.learningplanetinstitute.org\/en\/programs\/remodelun\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find out more about ReModelUN<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"max-width: 500px;\">\n<div style=\"position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0;\"><iframe style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uCxad8TkGbw?si=HpNR4W8Ll7WJwWY7\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><br \/>\n<\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Strengthening ties with the UN Youth Office<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent visits by Dr Felipe Paullier (in April &#8217;25 and January &#8217;26) reflect the intensification of our relationship with the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UN Youth Office<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This further anchors the youth voice within our mission, activities, and actions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This type of partnership is not merely symbolic; it forms the architecture of a new kind of intergenerational co-creation.
