Portrait Series: An Interview with Sagarika Sriram, Founder, Kids4aBetterWorld

Sagarika started K4B World because she loves animals, plants, trees and the ocean and she did not want to see our planet become ugly and polluted. She started thinking about ways in which she could make a difference and now she want you to join her efforts!

It’s not as hard as it sounds and believe me it can be fun as well.

What were your biggest takeaways from the #LearningPlanet Festival?

The #LearningPlanet Festival helped me understand that a pandemic and shutdown of schools need not limit our learning. Through technology, we can still share and exchange ideas with people from all over the world. I loved listening and learning about how we can take care of ourselves and our planet.

How do you celebrate learning in your organization?

Kids4abetterworld is an organization by kids for kids. We celebrate learning by doing and show young children how easy it is to make sustainability a way of life. Through our unique Green Cart – Reward and Recognition program, we motivate children to be Green Giants and Waste Warriors as they reduce, reuse and recycle in their own homes and save precious natural resources, thereby helping our environment.

What are your plans for 2021?

In 2021, Kids4abetterworld is working toward mobilizing climate education across all curriculums and schools in the UAE. We believe that while children are the most threatened by the effects of climate change, most children do not participate in climate change discussions and take action because they do not have the awareness and capability to do so. Climate education is no longer an option but is a necessity in our education.
