Creating a sustainable world means transforming education, both in and out of school. This reinvention of learning can only be achieved by mobilizing a multitude of players from different sectors. Aware of this challenge, the Learning Planet Institute has built up a network of contacts who mobilize around this issue all year round. They are united by one observation: young people are not solely responsible for their own future. Today's players must provide the tools needed to mobilize them.

Created in 2019 by Learning Planet Institute and theUNESCO, the LearningPlanet Festival (the French version of which is the Festival de l'Apprendre) takes place every year around the following themes International Education Day (January 24).

The Festival of Learning is the perfect opportunity to highlight all the players committed to transforming education to meet the challenges of climate, social and technological change.

For the next few months, every two weeks, we'll be bringing you the latest series of portraits and initiatives young people, teachers, education managers, public players and project leaders, mobilized around different themes:

  • « Inclusion, an essential pillar of a sustainable world »October 31
  • « Youth involvement »November 14
  • « The climate »November 28
  • « Tomorrow's skills »December 12
  • « Helping the school transform itself »January 4

THE IMAGINATION AND MOBILIZATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE, A SOURCE OF HOPE

LOÏC BLAISE, EXPLORER AND AVIATOR

What makes me optimistic is the will of all these people to collaborate and move forward. Wherever there are walls going up, wars breaking out, oppressions... fabulous impulses for life are present.

Today's young generation is faced with a multitude of transitions that are accelerating at an incredible pace. It is essential to find ways of co-constructing, with these younger generations, all the public policies that concern their future.

PABLO DIAZ, DIRECTOR - SCIENCESPO RENNES

My greatest source of hope is the creativity and imagination of young people in all their diversity. When you bring it together beyond the walls of a school, it explodes with imagination and inspiring projects.

THIBAUT GUILLUY, HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR EMPLOYMENT AND BUSINESS COMMITMENT - MINISTRY OF LABOR

My greatest source of hope for the future is to see so many energies, so many people from so many parts of society, mobilized for learning and the general interest.

FRANÇOIS GREY, PROFESSOR - UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA

We need to find ways of engaging young people during their education to make a change. What we advocate is action in what students do.

CHRISTINE LEBEAU BOURKACHE, SPECIALIZED MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER AND AMBASSADOR FOR BÂTISSEURS DE POSSIBLES

We need to help young people become self-aware, empathetic adults who play an active role in an inclusive society.

FRANÇOIS TADDEI, PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER - LEARNING PLANET INSTITUTE

My greatest source of hope is the ability of young people to mobilize and do things together that they couldn't do alone, the fact that young people love their future and want to build it.
