(in English) Masterclass: “Cosmopolitics of the Anthropocene” Speaker: Philippe Descola, Professor Emeritus of Social Anthropology at the Collège de France, researcher in anthropology, ethnology and philosophy, Paris, France Abstract: In many parts of the world, the use of land depends on a multitude of non-human entities endowed with autonomous agency with which humans must negotiate - deities, spirits, genies, ancestors, mountains, animals, meteors. The political relationship to the earth differs from that which we know in the Western world, either because non-humans are social agents within an encompassing collectivity, or because they are considered subjects acting within their own collectivity. These examples are worth considering for a less destructive, less anthropocentric approach to the Earth.
