R&D Unplugged - Childisme - Do we really love children? with Laelia Benoit

Infantilism - Do we really love children?

As much as we'd like to believe that we care about children and their future, studies on climate change and children's mental health reveal that their concern for the planet and their actions are often undermined. In this talk, we'll explore how infantilism, the prejudice against children, is prevalent in our daily lives. In addition, we'll discuss ways to raise awareness of this problem, address infantilism when it occurs, and work with children to overcome stigma and empower them to lead change. -----More about the speakerDr. Laelia Benoit, MD, PhD, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and sociologist at the Yale Child Study Center and the Centre de Recherche en Epidémiologie et Santé des Populations (Inserm). She studies children's awareness, feelings and actions regarding climate change, and examines how prejudice against children (infantilism) contributes to climate inaction.
