Research workshop on Artificial Regards and futures of learning
We are delighted to welcome Olga Kokshagina (University of Sydney) and Javier Fernandez (University of Tokyo) for a two-hour workshop exploring imaginaries of the future through speculative fiction. Entitled Regards artificiels: Envisioning Un/Desirable Futures of Learning with Sci-Fi“, the session is open to all and will take place on January 13 to the’Planet Learning Institute. L‘his workshop is organized by’Learning Transitions research unit (UR LT).

Brief description of the workshop:In science fiction and cyberpunk stories, whether in films like Blade Runner and Matrix, novels like Neuromancer, Snow Crash and The Three Body Problem, or series like Black Mirror, we see rich worlds shaped by advanced technologies, altered identities, shifting power structures and new forms of knowledge. These stories help us to think imaginatively and critically about the future.

In this two-hour workshop, we will draw inspiration from these motifs global of science fiction and cyberpunk to explore the future of the’learning.

We invite participants to use the broader language of speculative fiction: artificial intelligence, augmented bodies, digital realities, enhanced cognition, post-human societies, surveillance systems, climate-technology hybrids, out-of-this-world habitats and more.
