Women in science: Research, determination, revolution

Join us on February 14, 2025 to the’Learning Planet Institute (LPI) to celebrate Women in Science Week 2025 with an exceptional panel of specialists, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners working to bridge the gender gap in science and technology. This event is open to students, practitioners and researchers interested in this topic and ready to share their visions and proposals for inclusive and intersectional gender research, education and policy.

The projects PATTERN Open Research of the LPI Citizen Science team and MEDNIGHT of the Marie Curie Alumni Association, funded by the EU, are joining forces to launch their next initiatives on the gender, non-discrimination and inclusion in research and the exhibition “Les Mar ies Curies de la Mediterranean” . This interactive event will feature the following activities

  • A workshop on power and privilege in research , of 2 to 5 p.m. (CET), open to students, practitioners and researchers
    • An interactive conference on blockingspeechtoxiconline by Professor Biancamaria Cepollaro, San Raffaele University of Life Sciences (UniSR).
    • A double-loop learning and design thinking workshop, designed and led by Andrea Giraldo Sevilla, head of research in LPI's Citizen Science team. This workshop will focus on master suppression techniques (Ås, Berit. 2004) and on the academic wheel of privilegeFORRT.
  • The launch event ” Women of Science: Research, Resolution, Revolution of 6 to 7:30 p.m. (CET), made up of
    • A home warm and an introduction by François Taddéi, President of LPI, Corine Portioli, Vice-President of the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA), Alessio Livio Spera and Stefania Laneve, co-directors of the PATTERN open research project, and Giulia Rizzo, President of MCAA France and representative of the MEDNIGHT project.
    • A round table on the gaps and opportunities for advancing training on gender and inclusion in research and education, moderated by Camille Gaullon, pedagogical and scientific coordinator of the FIRE doctoral school, and featuring the following panelists
      • Andrea Giraldo Sevilla, Research Manager in the Citizen Science team of the LPI-CYU research unit on learning transitions
      • Lucile Alexandre, MSCA postdoctoral researcher at Université Paris Cité
      • Fernanda Bajanca, Head of Clinical Research at Toulouse University Hospital and MEDNIGHT project coordinator
      • Una McCarthy-Fakhry, Gender and Education Officer, UNESCO Headquarters - Education Sector
    • A round table on the how to link gender and inclusion in research, education and science policy to societal challenges, moderated by Asya Salnikova, Head of Science at the European Science Foundation, and featuring the following panellists
      • Lora Gailly, Project Officer associated with the UNESCO Call for Action “Bridging the Gender Gap in Science”, Section for Science, Technology and Innovation Policy, UNESCO Headquarters.
      • Kave Bulambo, founder of BlackinTechBerlin and TalentDiverse
      • Maria Rosa Mondardini, Managing Director of the Citizen Science Center at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich
      • Radenka Krsmanovic Whiffenm, Scientific Manager and President of MCAA Western Balkans
