The annual Fête de la Science was held from October 1 to 11, 2021. CRI also got involved to celebrate this 30th edition! Around the theme «The thrill of discovery», CRI teams offered a program of workshops, round-table discussions and diverse, engaging activities for young and old alike.
Loud competition
Falling Wall Labs and the research co-laboratory opened this celebration with a pitch competition: 3 minutes to present a discovery, an idea that will revolutionize a problem. Students, researchers and young professionals all got in on the action as they tried to make it to the world finals. Pitch Contest - Falling Walls Lab (Berlin, November 7, 2021).
A big congratulations to the 3 finalists of the FRANCE competition and to the winner who will go to Berlin this year:

Exploring the emotions of research
For 10 days, participants and speakers at CRI's Fête de la Science explored the emotions of research and discovery. How do our emotions affect research? How do certain discoveries influence our emotions? Living Campus tackled two important questions on these themes through the round table « Do researchers' emotions about their discoveries influence their research? »and the« Discovering changes in our environment, solastalgia and eco-anxiety »This was a chance for participants to share their experiences.

The world of science through play
Gathered around playful activities, participants and presenters of Savanturiers - École de la recherche activities exchanged views on subjects as interesting as they were varied. « The incomplete fresco »An escape game in the style of an archaeological dig, it revealed the secrets and discoveries of 15 hitherto little-known women scientists.

Immersed in urban biodiversity and ecosystems, participants in the « Biopirates - discovering urban biodiversity! »They were able to appreciate the delicate balance behind these concepts.

Experimentation and manipulation
Using biotechnologies to meet the socio-ecological challenges of our century? This is the idea behind principles such as spherification, used notably in molecular cuisine. Participants were able to experiment with this concept in the «Spherification" scientific manipulation workshop.« Encapsulation - Discovering biotechnologies ».

From small to very large
With the Premiers Cris early childhood research co-laboratory, the youngest children set off to discover their emotions through their 5 senses, memories and games: workshops «Discovering emotions! What do we feel when we discover?»

The older children discussed the emotions that can emerge from the learning process. Stories of experience : «Discovering emotions! What do we feel when we learn?»

10 days, 60 events and 2,000 visitors
The Fête de la Science 2021 at the Université de Paris and CRI was 10 days and some 60 events. It also meant over 2,000 visitors of all ages, and just as many curious minds sensitive to discovery and research!
The University of Paris takes a look back at these precious moments with the young and the very young, the researchers and teachers, and all the participants in these 10 days of discovery!
