Dylan Mavoungou on youth involvement

Creating a sustainable world means enabling the younger generations to build the foundations of their own future. In addition to giving them access to decision-making bodies, the Learning Planet Institute is committed to supporting their voices, their wishes and their actions. Throughout the year, the Institute builds up a network of contacts who are mobilized to create or support initiatives arising from youth movements.

Created in 2019 by the Learning Planet Institute and the’UNESCO, The LearningPlanet Festival takes place every year around the theme of "Learning". International Education Day (January 24).

The Festival de l'Apprendre is the perfect opportunity to shine the spotlight on all those committed to transforming education to meet the challenges of climate, society and technology.

In addition to this highlight of the year, the Learning Planet Institute offers a space for discussion, construction and action for young people on an international scale. The International Youth Council, or «Youth Council». Young people under the age of 25, from all over the world and from a variety of backgrounds, come together to discuss and implement concrete actions on subjects such as education, youth rights, health and well-being. They can call on scientists, activists, artists and institutions that the network mobilizes to support their actions.

For the next few months, every two weeks, we'll be bringing you a series of portraits and initiatives by young people, teachers, education managers, public players and project leaders, mobilized around different themes:

ARIANA DIARRA, STUDENT AND INTERN AT THE LEARNING PLANET INSTITUTE

We don't often give young people a voice, we don't necessarily listen to them, but in fact they're the source of ideas and a great desire to act. If I had one message to send to everyone from young people, it would be... « Listen to us and realize our great potential ».

DYLAN MAVOUNGOU, FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF THE CAMPLUS ASSOCIATION

We need to give young people the power to act, by changing the way we think and the way we support them: we need to design projects for young people, co-constructing with them on the basis of their needs.
