September 2020 and all subsequent returns
What will happen in September 2020? And in the months that follow?

This question is essential if we are to anticipate the material and pedagogical conditions in which students will be taught, when we don't know what the health situation will be in a few months' time.
But above all, it is necessary to begin laying the foundations for a school that will be constantly shaken up by the increasingly pressing environmental and climatic challenges. Challenges that will weigh heavily on the social, economic and democratic choices of all nations.

Over the last few months, we have witnessed a tremendous surge in the educational community's response to an urgent, unprecedented and global situation. We have also seen families confronted with a shift in the boundaries of school requirements towards the intimacy of the home, with all the consequences that this entails for the equilibrium of children and parents.
This question has always been on the minds of many education professionals, and philosopher Charles Hadji offers some suggestions in his book article “Penser l'après, pour une école de l'essentiel” (In French only)”.

How can we make this over-investment and these leads fruitful over time? In other words, what now?

Education through research seems to us to be an operational tool for building together this desirable, shared school, best suited to the Anthropocene generation. A school that is the foundation of rights for future generations. Our approach is free of ideologies and is based on the collective work of educators, scientists, parents and young people themselves.
In order to prepare a school that is more than just a reaction to COVID-19, we have chosen to commit ourselves, as always, to combining the knowledge of educators and scientific evidence, as close as possible to where schooling takes place: teachers and families.

As a first step, we are taking part in a vast sociological survey conducted by Filippo Pirone and Romain Delès (Bordeaux University). “Home schooling, the parents” point of view".”. More than 30,000 responses have already been received, providing a complete snapshot of this new educational frontier. Don't hesitate to answer this questionnaire and pass it on.
We'll be giving you more details in the coming weeks as we work together to build this school for the Anthropocene.
