EDITO
by Ange Ansour, Director of Savanturiers - École de la recherche
As a fraction of pupils return to school, we are beginning to draw the first lessons from this shift in school boundaries towards the home, and the increasing share of digital education. Dozens of scientific investigations are currently underway into this phenomenon of education in times of crisis, the first robust results of which will not be known for another year.
However, the pressure of the school calendar is strong: between now and September 2020, we have to learn how to live, educate, teach and learn in times of pandemic and with health measures that will weigh heavily on school and family organizations. In fact, the start of the 2020 school year will be different from all previous ones. Educators and families have mobilized considerably, and now we need to anticipate the unprecedented challenges of the coming school year, to be able to support all students academically, socially and psychologically.
Following the mobilization of the Savanturiers community for the weekly implementation of science challenges and activities, we are starting a series of webinars and publications on education in times of crisis next week.
Starting on Wednesday May 27 at 6pm, and every Wednesday thereafter, a webinar will be organized with a researcher in the human and social sciences, focusing on educational issues. Each webinar will be followed by the publication of a dossier on the theme addressed. We'll start with Filippo Pirone, a teacher-researcher at the University of Bordeaux, discussing the interim results of the survey on home schooling as seen by parents. Natacha Duroisin will look at student assessment in times of crisis, while Jean-François Cerisier will analyze teachers' digital habits.
Finally, starting this summer, the Savanturiers community will also be mobilizing around the school. Cooperation between teachers and other players in the field of education has never been so necessary. The educational, and therefore social, destiny of millions of young people depends on it.
