by Ange Ansour, Director of the Savanturiers program - École de la recherche
The school of success and commitment to the SDGs
For two years, Savanturiers students and teachers took part in an OECD study across 11 countries to develop and test a set of teaching resources that illustrate what it means to teach, learn and advance creativity and critical thinking in primary education.
This study, Fostering Students Creativity and Critical Thinking, corroborated the results of the evaluation conducted by INAS-Mons and shows that the pedagogical approach to education through research has led to :
- Increased student interest in math and science; ;
- A positive effect on parents' involvement in their children's schooling; ;
- Improved results for girls and students from disadvantaged backgrounds; ;
- Students who have benefited from research-based education over a longer period than others achieve higher test scores.
These results encourage us to persevere, in the service of our students' academic success.
On January 24, declared International Education Day by the UN General Assembly, will be an opportunity for us to celebrate all educators, those pedagogues-researchers who work to develop students' creativity and critical thinking skills, essential for meeting the challenges facing the Anthropocene generation.
On this day, CRI will launch the Learning Planet initiative in partnership with UNESCO to inspire citizens, and particularly young people and teachers, to learn and act in order to meet the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the UN.
To mark the launch, the Learning Festival will take place on January 24 at a range of venues in France and around the world. Suggestions to help you organize your own Festival of Learning will be posted on the website in early January. Learning Planet.
