  • Education
  • International

The initiative Teachers as Researchers aims to collectively explore solutions to educational challenges through research on a European scale. In January 2023, Teachers as Researchersis also proposing 2 events at the LearningPlanet festival (January 24-28, 2023).

Teachers as Researchers uses a methodology based on collaborative intelligence, writing and peer evaluation via a collaborative research approach. This initiative implements activities aimed at improving the process of sharing and building collaborative knowledge for all educators (teachers, principals, designers, educational coaches, etc.), from all educational sectors, on a European scale. These activities focus on 3 key pillars:

1) the collaborative study of educational practices through the identification and description of challenges and actions common,

2) testing these actions, the collection of observations on their impacts and results in feedback

3) comparative analysis of several feedback as a summary towards solving the challenge identified. Each step in the process will also be the subject of a review by visit peers, it’ i.e. by other educators.

Teachers as researchers as part of the European Hub for Digital Education

Visit European hub for digital education (EDEH) is an initiative of the European Commission, funded by the Erasmus+ program (2021-2027) and managed by a consortium of organizations led by the DAAD, under a service contract with the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture (EACEA).

The team Teachers as Researchers from the Learning Planet Institute actively contributes to this hub by running monthly collaborative workshops on how best to tackle the key challenges of digital transformation in education. To find out more, see the European Education Area article.

Teacher-researcher weeks on the Hub

The European Hub for Digital Education has just launched a series of “Teacher-researcher weeks”This is where educators can collaborate to find answers to the challenges they face in their daily working lives. Educators and users of the European Digital Hub in general can experiment with :

  • Introduction and Q&A: the Participants will learn more about the methodology, its pedagogical objectives, theoretical framework and practical aspects following a presentation lasting around 10 minutes. There will then be time for questions and answers, followed by a short activity to discover the resources and models used in the TaR workshops and workgroups.
  • Collaborative workshopsusing the approach and methodology of teachers-researchers to experiment with collaborative intelligence, writing and peer assessment to explore the key challenges of digital education:
    1. identify common educational challenges and shared hypotheses to be tested
    2. develop and implement experimental protocols
    3. report to the community on feedback from the experiment.
    4. peer review of each other's work

How do I register?

These workshops are aimed at all professionals working in the field of digital education and facing challenges. They aim to involve participants in collaborative research and the collection of good educational practices with their peers.
