After 10 years as a corporate foundation (exclusive patronage of the PiLeJe company), the PiLeJe Foundation has been hosted by the Fondation de France since April 2015.
Its missions revolve around 5 key areas that reflect its primary vocation: promoting sustainable health.
- 1. Make as many people as possible aware of the importance and benefits of taking personal responsibility for their health, through lifelong health information and education; ;
- 2. Make knowledge and know-how accessible to all, particularly in the areas of diet, physical activity, sleep and stress management, to help people live better, healthier lives on a daily basis and in the long term; ;
- 3. Participate in reflection and consultation on prevention policies, and thus contribute to the implementation of validated non-medicinal methods, approaches and therapies, in healthcare pathways; ;
- 4. Support research, training and innovation in individualized prevention; ;
- 5. Contribute to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable people.
To achieve these objectives, each year the Pileje Foundation subsidizes projects selected by the Executive Committee. In 2018, the foundation supported Cloé Brami's project.
Indeed, after several years of personal practice of mindfulness meditation, and convinced of its benefits, Cloé decided to develop a mindfulness meditation program for medical students and helped set up an optional «Mindfulness Meditation» module at the University of Paris, to alleviate the stress of their daily lives.
The module was a great success with students, and the grant obtained from the Pileje Foundation enabled the creation of an official teaching program, integrated as a compulsory 18-hour supplementary course, at the University of Paris.
The objectives of the program, the results of which are currently being analyzed, were to :
- Experience mindfulness meditation
- Offer theoretical teaching on mindfulness with researchers and practitioners involved in care
- Developing emotional intelligence and empathy in self-relationships
- Taking care of yourself to take care of others
- Evaluating these programs through research
The program is also coupled with a experiential learning at CRI, which offers medical students in Paris the chance to take part in an 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness-based stress reduction) meditation program free of charge.
In two years, some 150 students have taken part in these educational proposals.
These programs are all the more important in today's health conditions, where medical students are confronted with situations that are more stressful than usual.
