Internal communication of June 26, 2024
“Dear all,
Following the results obtained by the extreme right in the European elections on June 9 and the announcement of early legislative elections, formal and informal actions and exchanges were initiated within our Institute. You were thus able to share your feelings and concerns about the breakthrough of the French far right and its possible impact, in particular, on international students and employees, as well as on the Learning Planet Institute, its mission and the proper implementation of its current and future activities.
Like you, we have chosen the Learning Planet Institute for its values of humanism and universalism, and for the necessary and urgent response to Transitions, particularly SDG 4.7, dedicated to Education for Sustainable Development, Global Citizenship, Peace and Living Together, for which we are working collectively. It is these values and this mission that have convinced us and brought us this far, and that we will continue to defend, together, whatever the outcome of the forthcoming vote. Faced with the global emergence of political movements with ideas and objectives antagonistic to our own, we hope that these values will convince even more those who make up and will continue to make up our community of planetary citizens (#planetizens) aspiring to a better world: learning, sustainable and inclusive.
Like you, we're worried about the political future of France, Europe and the world. As we work together to build a global university, we demand more than ever the right to diversity and inclusion, to openness and collaboration without borders, to free movement, debate and free thought, to teaching, learning and research independent of all pressures.
The right to vote is a fundamental right and a civic duty. It is currently the only democratic lever we have in the face of uncertainty. We strongly encourage French citizens to exercise their right to vote in the legislative elections on June 30 and July 7, or to appoint a proxy, in order to put a stop to ideas that are not compatible with our values.
International students and employees: rest assured that we will continue to welcome multiculturalism and diversity, to foster inclusion, to champion your full and equal participation in the mission and activities of our Institute.
We look forward to hearing from you. We look forward to hearing from you.
The COMEX & The Executive Committee”
