Over the past few years, mentoring has grown and reached more and more young people in France. Today, there are over 22,000 mentors supporting just as many young people in their educational journey. Last year, the newly-formed Collectif Mentorat in France introduced a day of thanks to mentors in January. This year, to mark International Mentoring Month, the Collectif is going one step further by organizing the first Assises du mentorat and the Journée de l'impact du mentor. These two events reflect the Collectif's desire to promote and establish mentoring as an accessible and supportive approach for children and students at risk.
The Collectif Mentorat, created a year and a half ago, already brings together 8 key players in mentoring, and aims to facilitate the exchange of practices, the sharing of tools, the cross-fertilization of impact studies and territorial development strategies, and to make mentoring known and accessible to young people in difficulty. In concrete terms, this “Mentoring Month” kicks off with a conference entitled “Les Assises du Mentorat”, which brings together 700 professionals and researchers to discuss the various aspects and impacts of mentoring, and ends on January 29 with the Mentor Impact Day, which focuses more on an experiential approach to mentoring, with testimonials and experiences from mentors and mentees.
