Portrait series: Interview with Sagarika Sriram, founder of Kids4aBetterWorld

  • International

Sagarika created K4B World because she loves animals, plants, trees and the ocean, and doesn't want to see our planet become ugly and polluted. She started thinking about how she could make a difference, and now she wants you to join her efforts!

It's not as hard as it sounds, and believe me, it can be fun too.

What did you learn from the #LearningPlanet festival?

The #LearningPlanet festival helped me understand that a pandemic and school closures don't have to limit our learning. Thanks to technology, we can always share and exchange ideas with people from all over the world. I loved listening and learning how we can take care of ourselves and our planet.

How do you celebrate learning in your organization?

Kids4abetterworld is an organization created by children for children. We celebrate learning by doing, and show young children how easy it is to make sustainable development a way of life. Thanks to our program unique reward and recognition, We motivate children to become green giants and waste warriors by reducing, reusing and recycling at home, saving precious natural resources and helping to protect the environment.

What are your plans for 2021?

In 2021, Kids4abetterworld is working to mobilize climate education across all programs and schools in the United Arab Emirates. We believe that while children are most at risk from the effects of climate change, most of them do not participate in climate change discussions and take action because they lack the awareness and ability to do so. Climate education is no longer an option, but a necessity in our education.
