Press release - Renewal of the UNESCO Chair in the Science of Learning“

Since 2014, François TADDEI, founder and president of the Learning Planet Institute, is the holder of the International Teaching and Research Chair in Learning Sciences“, supported by - led by Université Paris Cité and the Institute.

This Chair UNESCO - which combines research, pedagogy and technology to support teachers, researchers, teams and stakeholder groups in building a learning society for a more sustainable world - is based on the conviction that young people, lifelong learning and collective intelligence are the best levers for change in our societies.


The four-year “Sciences de l'apprendre” program was renewed in 2018 and 2022. For the period 2022-2026, its work will focus on 3 major axes.

1 - R&D
At a time of collective intelligence and transitions, and in order to facilitate the emergence of a learning society, the Chair's research will focus on the evolution of forms of learning and collective decision-making.

2 - EDUCATION

Co-create a learning society to meet the challenges of our time, by multiplying the number of learners and teachers benefiting from innovative content and teaching methods.

  • Reference training courses for scientific and social entrepreneurs.
  • Training entrepreneurs and multi-skilled researchers of excellence, capable of responding
    Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Creating meeting points between researchers and citizens.
  • Game-changing training courses for all ages.
  • Promote interdisciplinary, international and international learning experiences.

3 - THE INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE

Continue to lead a global community of practice dedicated to transforming education and co-constructing a learning society.

  • Facilitate the creation of projects designed to teach individuals to “take care of themselves
    of ourselves, others and the planet”.
  • Extend this community, including to companies aligned with the
    Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Celebrating learning during the LearningPlanet Festival and at the
    targeted events.

A UNESCO Chair is a team led by a higher education or research institution that joins forces with the’UNESCO for a project aimed at advancing knowledge and practice in a common priority area (...) Established within a teaching or research unit, department or faculty of the higher education or research establishment, the UNESCO Chair is directed by an academic leader known as the Chair Manager. UNESCO Chairs must contribute to UNESCO's priorities.
