Take a step into the world of Lonely Not Alone

  • International

L‘Lonely Not Alone universe was designed by young people, for young people, to combat the stigma of loneliness among young people. It's a safe place where young people can share their stories, find their tribe and discover the small step that could help make things better. Take a step in the’universe and share it with all the young people you know. When a young person shares their story, it becomes a star in the night sky and joins other stars in a constellation of young people with similar experiences of loneliness. The universe is home to ten beautiful constellations, each a place of belonging for young people. The Hedgehog constellation is full of people who are suffering, but won't let anyone get close enough to help them. The Urban Foxes have been moved from one place to another and feel like outsiders. The Unicorn constellation is made up of talented people who don't seem to fit in with their surroundings. Each constellation has been reproduced in the real night sky, so that youngsters can look up and see their star shining up there. They'll know that even if they feel lonely, they're not alone, and that even if the universe is eternal, loneliness doesn't have to be. Over time, the ten constellations that make up the universe will fill up with more and more stories, so check them out from time to time. Helen, 21, helped design the campaign, and sums up why it's so important for young people:“Loneliness is actually a common and natural human experience. I've certainly experienced moments of loneliness in my life, but it comes and goes. Loneliness doesn't last forever. It's really important that we start to normalize talking about loneliness. I hope this year's “Lonely Not Alone” campaign will help young people learn that other people feel exactly the same way as they do, and that putting it into words or talking about it can help.
