As we move away from an industrial education model and shift towards competency based education we need to adapt our educational frameworks. By advancing 21st Century Competencies we empower human-centered learning. While the future of education will be full of tensions it is also filled with immense opportunity. 21st Century Competencies can fulfill our promise of education as a transformative practice. In this session we will explore how this shift can happen as evidenced through Beyond Education’s development of tools for assessment of the future of skills.

More about the speaker
Dr. Nathan Roberson works to advance diverse research methods to support teaching and learning in support of holistic educational research. His research focuses on social indicators of well-being and the creation of innovative metrics to inform public policy. He is passionate about philosophy and educational activism. Dr. Roberson has a PhD in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology from the University of British Columbia. He was also a policy analyst on the OECD Education 2030 project, where he worked to advance country-level policy to implement 21st Century Competencies into national-level curriculum reform. As the Chief Research Officer at Beyond Education, he is developing research on 21st Century Competencies, which are critical to the future of education, employment, and human flourishing.
