We will be hosting a Futures Learning Lab on “Learning for Planetary Citizenship and Anticipatory Governance,” led by the UNESCO Future Literacy Lab, in collaboration with Arizona State University and UNESCO Bridges Coalition.

This Futures Learning Lab is part of the visit of a cohort of students from Arizona State University (ASU) to Learning Planet Institute.

What is a Futures Learning Lab? A Futures Learning Lab (FLL) is a participatory, action-learning process designed to help participants examine how they imagine the future and uncover hidden assumptions shaping their perspectives.

Through collective exploration and dialogue, FLLs foster Futures Literacy, a capability-based approach to futures, which uses the power of our imagination to shift away from dominant narratives or constraints and envision new possibilities for action.

Focus of This Session

Building on the Youth Consultation held in September in preparation for the UN Summit for the Future, this session will delve into key questions surrounding planetary citizenship and governance, including :

  • How can we enable multi-stakeholder collaboration for planetary decision-making?
  • How can we learn to collaborate across citizens, countries,  nature, and technologies to foster shared futures?
  • How do we collectively make decisions that prioritize planetary well-being?
