We look forward to seeing you this Thursday, Oct 19th 2023 at 10am in the LPI amphitheater.

Abstract

Poverty has been largely associated with lower outcomes at cognitive tests. In particular, various studies have shown that children from low socioeconomic backgrounds tend to have low achievements in executive function tests. However, different types of interventions have been shown to be capable of reversing those associations. In this talk, Dr. Julia Hermida will address correlational evidence in Argentina regarding poverty and child cognitive development. Also, she will summarize interventions that have been carried out in Argentina, aimed at training executive functions in children from different low socioeconomic backgrounds. While addressing those topics, Dr. Hermida will share her insights about following a scientific career in a middle-to-low-income country.
