Paris, January 12, 2024. It is time to collectively reclaim control over our learning to preserve the habitability of our planet. Let’s come together from January 22 to 27 for the 5th edition of the LearningPlanet Festival, in France and around the world, focusing on the UN theme of Peace Education.

The need to preserve the habitability of the Earth and to become more active participants in shaping our future gives rise to a new relationship with education. The challenge now lies in scaling up and connecting the innovative initiatives that are blossoming all around the world.

At the LearningPlanet Festival, we come together to revolutionize our learning models and anchor practices in line with the climate, technological, economic, and societal challenges that lie ahead. Environmental education, the role of emotions in education, intergenerational leadership, citizen science, ethics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), « artivism »: these are some of the priorities of this Festival dedicated this year to Peace Education UN thematic and new educational imaginaries.

Free and open to all, the LearningPlanet Festival mobilizes enthusiasts – schools, universities, institutions, cities, social innovators, student and youth activist networks, artists, media, and companies – around the International Day of Education (January 24).
Several hundred events, both online and in-person, bring together tens of thousands of people from around the world (191 countries represented in 2023), making this Festival an essential international gathering. Join our guests, experts, and enthusiasts in all key domains to build desirable futures through conferences, masterclasses, workshops, hackathons, and artistic performances.

Established in 2019 by the Learning Planet Institute and UNESCO, the International LearningPlanet Alliance fosters a global community of practice dedicated to transforming education and co-creating a learning society. It brings together diverse, complementary, and committed actors with a common goal: to teach individuals to « take care of themselves, others, and the planet. » Together, they share their knowledge, pedagogical practices, and on-the-ground experiences to better prepare individuals and organizations to understand and collectively address the challenges of our time.

Since 2020, the LearningPlanet Festival has been organized annually by the Learning Planet Institute, through its International Alliance Hub, around the International Day of Education (January 24). It is done in partnership with UNESCO and hundreds of pioneering organizations in the fields of education, culture, science, social and environmental impact, as well as with thousands of students and young activists from around the world. The hundreds of events, whether local or online, provide opportunities to share ideas and ongoing projects, launch initiatives, and mobilize the active forces committed to adapting our learning models to the accelerated transitions of the 21st century.
